Nutrition Notes

Although they are far from the stomach and liver and intestines, FEET are affected by good nutrition in many ways such as:

  • Efficiency of arteries and veins
  • Happiness of connective tissues and joint surfaces
  • Clarity and healing ability of skin and nails
  • Strength of muscles and bones
  • Good messaging by nerves in soles
  • Natural body alignment which helps feet with their load-bearing tasks
  • Reliable brain function which makes movement, awareness, and problem- solving possible

The rate of illness related to nutrition should cause improved nourishment to be a concern of all health professionals. We can’t continue to have “a food system that doesn’t care about health and a health system that doesn’t care about food”.

Improved Societal Nutrition

The HEALTH of our POPULATION will improve when some SHIFTS are made. Examples of ‘shifts’ could include:

Increase:

  • Vegetables and fruit (quality and quantity) -->
  • Natural sugars within vegetables and fruit -->
  • Variety of grains (buckwheat, quinoa) -->
  • Freshly cooked food -->
  • Water -->
  • Quality of meat, eggs, dairy -->
  • Nuts, seeds -->
  • Lentils, Legumes (eat slowly) -->
  • Breakfast with vegetables and fruits -->

Decrease:

  • Packages containing list of chemicals
  • Processed sugar, high fructose corn syrup
  • Wheat and wheat-derived additives
  • Food fried in vats of low quality oils and then microwaved
  • Pop, alcohol
  • Quantity of meat, eggs, and dairy
  • Fat combined with sugar and salt
  • Foods without fibre
  • Breakfast with animal protein
